On Tuesday night, September 29th, 2020, the first of three presidential debates between Donald Trump and Joe Biden took place at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. The debate itself was split into 6 segments, and they were all a mess to say the least.

The first segment kicked off with a discussion about the Supreme Court and who President Trump wants to nominate for the position of the late Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Almost immediately, the men start firing insults and trying to talk over each otherThe president took it upon himself to decide when he could argue during the structured debate. This led to things spiraling out of control pretty quickly.

The hour and a half debate consisted of interruptions, insults, and improper ways of addressing one another. Biden even started selling merch with phrases he said during the debate, quote, “Will you shut up, man!”

During this debate, President Trump took time to criticize the former vice president for wearing a face mask every time he steps out into public amongst the pandemic. Two days later, the president was diagnosed with Coronavirus. This was followed up Joe Biden and running Vice President Kamala Harris making a public statement on the situation, wishing Trump the best with a speedy recovery.

The debate dragged on for almost an additional 10 minutes, due to mass interruptions and speaking when it’s not said candidates turn to speak.
